Tailored Sr-Co-free perovskite oxide as an air electrode for high-performance reversible solid oxide cells

چکیده

Sr-Co containing perovskite oxides are prospective air electrode candidates for reversible solid oxide cells (RSOCs). However, their efficiencies limited by Sr segregation and the high thermal expansion coefficient (TEC) of Co-based perovskites. Herein, La0.6Ca0.4Fe08Ni0.2O3−δ (LCaFN) is tailored as an Sr-Co-free highperformance RSOCs. Compared with La0.6Sr0.4Fe0.8Ni0.2O3−δ (LSFN) La0.6Sr0.4Co0.2Fe0.8O3−δ (LSCoF), LCaFN has a electrical conductivity (297 S cm−1), TEC compatibility (11.2 × 10−6 K−1) improved chemical stability. Moreover, oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) activity low polarization resistance (0.06 Ω cm2) at 800°C. A single-cell Ni-YSZ/YSZ/gadolinium-doped ceria (GDC)/LCaFN-GDC operated 800°C yields maximum power density 1.08 W cm−2 using H2 fuel. In electrolysis cell (SOEC) mode, can achieve current approximately 1.2 1.3 V 70% humidity The exhibits good reversibility remains stable in continuous SOEC fuel (SOFC) modes. These findings indicate potential application material

A perovskite oxide with high conductivities in both air and reducing atmosphere for use as electrode for solid oxide fuel cells

Electrode materials which exhibit high conductivities in both oxidising and reducing atmospheres are in high demand for solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) and solid oxide electrolytic cells (SOECs). In this paper, we investigated Cu-doped SrFe0.9Nb0.1O3-δ finding that the primitive perovskite oxide SrFe0.8Cu0.1Nb0.1O3-δ (SFCN) exhibits a conductivity of 63 Scm(-1)and 60 Scm(-1) at 415 °C in air and...

Carbon black-intercalated reduced graphene oxide electrode with graphene oxide separator for high-performance supercapacitor

We present a general study on a high performance supercapacitor based on intercalated reduced graphene oxide with carbon black nanoparticles. Graphene oxide sheets were synthesized by oxidation and exfoliation of natural graphite and were reduced using hydroiodic acid in the presence of carbon black nanoparticles. Graphene paper was fabricated by one-step procedure via simultaneous reducing and...

Performance of Reversible Solid Oxide Cells: A review

It was shown about 25 years ago that solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC) could also work in the solid oxide electrolyser cell (SOEC) mode. Electrolysis of both water (steam) and CO2 was demonstrated. During the 1990'ies very little electrolysis work was reported in the open literature, whereas an enormous amount of results on the SOFC R&D appeared. Recently, the increasing interest in hydrogen produc...

La0.6Sr0.4Co0.2Fe0.8O3 perovskite cathode for Intermediate Temperature Solid Oxide Fuel Cells: A comparative study

In this study the characteristics of two different kinds of La0.6Sr0.4Co0.2Fe0.8O3 (LSCF) powders, one in-house synthesized powder by a co-precipitation method and another one purchased from Fuel Cell Materials Co. (FCM Co., USA), were compared. The co-precipitated powder was prepared by using ammonium carbonate as precipitant with a NH4+/NO3- molar ratio of 2 and calcination at 1000C for 1 h....

Calcium manganite as oxygen electrode materials for reversible solid oxide fuel cell.

For an efficient high-temperature reversible solid oxide fuel cell (RSOFC), the oxygen electrode should be highly active for the conversion between oxygen anions and oxygen gas. CaMnO(3-δ) (CM) is a perovskite that can be readily reduced with the formation of Mn(3+) giving rise to oxygen defective phases. CM is examined here as the oxygen electrode for a RSOFC. CaMn(0.9)Nb(0.1)O(3-δ) (CMN) with...
